Meet Chrissy Clace, our Head of Department – Outpatients at Plymouth Hospital.
How long have you worked for Nuffield Health?
16 months – I began working in the department as a staff nurse in October 2021 and became the department manager in January 2022.
Tell us about the team you work in?
As manager of Outpatients. and pre-assessment. I am privileged to work with a fabulous diverse team with a wide array of personal skills and experience. We work with and support many consultants covering a vast choice of surgical and medical specialisms. In addition to this we staff a minor operations theatre enabling patients to have simple procedures under a local anaesthetic. The pre assessment team are highly skilled in the process of ensuring all of the patients going forward for surgery are safe to do so.
Why did you choose to work at Nuffield Health?
I was attracted to working for a charity where there is a big focus on wellbeing.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Nuffield Health?
Feeling valued and appreciated. I feel like we are one big family, small enough to know almost all staff by name and the departments in which they work from nursing and theatre staff to administration and housekeeping. Everyone at Nuffield supports each other. I feel listened to able to offer suggestions and opinions.
What are your career highlights?
Gaining a teaching qualification (PGCE) in 2015 and delivering a diverse range of clinical skills training including teaching student nurses at Plymouth university.
I have had the pleasure of working in many specialisms as a nurse over my career including paediatrics, surgery and working to achieve gold standard End of life care status in my previous place of work
